Reversing and surround cameras

The reversing camera and, on cars with the 360-degree system, the cameras in the mirrors and grille.

How you know it is this

  • A black screen or 'camera unavailable' when reverse is selected
  • A picture that is fogged, blurred or has water behind the lens
  • A 360 view with one segment missing or misaligned

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Water behind the lens is the standard failure. The seal goes and the camera fogs — replacement rather than repair.
  • A dead camera is often the reversing light signal or the wiring rather than the camera. The same signal wakes it.
  • Surround-view cameras must be CALIBRATED after fitting, or the stitched image does not line up.
  • The tailgate loom flexes and breaks, exactly like a door loom.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and which camera. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
