How you know it is this
- Automatic wipers running on a dry screen, or not running in rain
- Headlights switching on and off at the wrong moments
- The problem appearing straight after a windscreen replacement
Worth knowing before you buy
- IT WORKS THROUGH THE GLASS using an optical gel pad. If the pad has an air bubble, the sensor reads rain that is not there. That is by far the most common fault and it is a pad, not a sensor.
- A fault immediately after a new windscreen is the pad or the sensor not being seated properly.
- Automatic headlights use the same unit, so both symptoms arriving together points here.
- Cheap, and the gel pad is often available on its own.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and whether the windscreen has been replaced. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
