Blind spot radar sensors

The short-range radar units behind the rear bumper corners watching the adjacent lanes.

Also called blind spot assist, BSM.

How you know it is this

  • A blind spot assist unavailable message
  • The warning triggering with nothing there
  • The system disabling after a rear-end knock or a bumper repair

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Very sensitive to bumper repairs. Filler, thick paint or a slightly misaligned bracket behind the bumper puts the system out.
  • Needs calibrating after fitting or after bumper work.
  • A fault that appeared right after bodywork is almost always alignment, not a failed sensor.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, which side, and whether the car has had rear bodywork. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
