Distronic radar

The forward-facing radar behind the grille that runs adaptive cruise control and collision warning.

Also called DISTRONIC, adaptive cruise radar, ACC sensor.

How you know it is this

  • A DISTRONIC unavailable message
  • Cruise control refusing to engage
  • The system dropping out in rain or bright sun
  • A fault after a front-end knock or a windscreen change

Worth knowing before you buy

  • MUST BE CALIBRATED after fitting, and after any front-end repair or a change of ride height. This needs specific equipment and targets — it is not a plug-in job.
  • Temporary unavailability in heavy rain or with a dirty grille badge is normal behaviour, not a fault.
  • A knock that looks cosmetic can misalign the radar by enough to disable it.
  • Expensive, so confirm the sensor rather than the alignment before ordering.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number, the fault codes, and whether the car has had front-end work. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
