Also called IAT sensor, air temp sensor.
How you know it is this
- Poor running in hot weather but fine when cool, or the reverse
- An intake air temperature fault code
- Heavier fuel consumption with no other symptom
Worth knowing before you buy
- Air temperature matters more here than almost anywhere, because the difference between a cold morning and a summer afternoon is large — a sensor reading wrongly costs real fuel.
- Often built into the mass airflow sensor rather than separate.
- Cheap, and frequently clogged with oil mist rather than failed.
What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
Rest of the engine sensors
- Crankshaft position sensor
- Camshaft position sensor
- Coolant temperature sensor
- Mass airflow sensor
- Manifold pressure sensor
- Throttle position sensor
- Oil level and pressure sensors
- Fuel pressure sensor
