Also called ECT sensor, temp sensor.
How you know it is this
- A temperature gauge that reads wrongly or not at all
- Fans running constantly from a cold start, or never running
- Poor cold starting and heavy fuel consumption
- An engine that takes far too long to warm up
Worth knowing before you buy
- Cheap, and it causes symptoms that look far more serious than they are.
- A sensor reading cold makes the engine over-fuel permanently, which shows up as economy before it shows up as a warning.
- Some engines have two — one for the gauge and one for the management. A fault on one does not affect the other.
What we need to quote it. The engine code and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
Rest of the engine sensors
- Crankshaft position sensor
- Camshaft position sensor
- Intake air temperature sensor
- Mass airflow sensor
- Manifold pressure sensor
- Throttle position sensor
- Oil level and pressure sensors
- Fuel pressure sensor
