Chiller and heat exchanger

The exchanger that lets the air conditioning circuit actively cool the battery coolant — the thing that keeps a pack usable in this climate.

Also called battery chiller.

How you know it is this

  • Rapid charging slowing dramatically in hot weather
  • Battery temperature warnings
  • Reduced performance after sustained hard driving
  • Coolant and refrigerant mixing — a failed exchanger

Worth knowing before you buy

  • THIS IS THE PART THAT MATTERS MOST IN A GULF SUMMER. Without active chilling the pack heats up, the car cuts charging speed and power to protect it, and long-term degradation accelerates.
  • Reduced rapid-charge speed in hot weather is normal to a point. A car that has got dramatically worse is not.
  • An internal failure mixes refrigerant and coolant, which contaminates both circuits and means flushing as well as parts.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
