Subframe and subframe bushes

The cradle the engine, arms and steering mount to, and the large rubber bushes isolating it from the body.

How you know it is this

  • A heavy clunk on pulling away or changing direction
  • Vague steering that no amount of arm replacement fixes
  • Visible cracking or the subframe having shifted at its mounting points

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Subframe bushes are a big job — the subframe usually has to come down, which means the engine or suspension is supported meanwhile.
  • Worth doing at the same time as arms, because most of the labour overlaps.
  • A corroded or accident-damaged subframe is a structural item, not a wear item.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
