Ball joints

The ball-and-socket joint that lets the arm pivot while the wheel steers and moves.

How you know it is this

  • A knock from one front corner over bumps
  • Play felt when the wheel is rocked with the car raised
  • A split or missing rubber boot
  • Creaking at full lock

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A failed ball joint can separate, and the wheel folds under the car when it does. This is not a fault to run on.
  • Once the boot splits, grit gets in and the joint has months rather than years.
  • Some are replaceable on their own, some come only with the arm. Which decides the price.

What we need to quote it. Which corner and which arm, if it has been identified. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
