ABC tandem hydraulic pump

The belt-driven pump that supplies both the ABC system and the power steering — two pumps in one housing.

Also called tandem pump.

How you know it is this

  • A whine that rises with engine speed
  • Heavy steering and an ABC fault at the same time — the giveaway that it is the tandem pump
  • Red fluid leaking from the front of the engine

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Because it feeds the steering too, a failure takes both systems at once. That combination is the clearest sign it is the pump.
  • Debris from a failed pump travels through the whole system. A pump failure usually means flushing and new filters, not just the pump.
  • Check the filter and fluid condition before fitting a new pump, or the new one goes the same way.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
