Worth knowing before you buy
- Typically takes in the items that come round at longer intervals — plugs, the fuel filter, the gearbox service, brake fluid — on top of the routine oil and filters.
- What actually falls due depends on the car's age, mileage and what was done last time, so this is quoted against the car rather than off a shelf.
- Doing several items in one visit saves labour that would otherwise be paid twice.
- If the history is unknown, a major service is the cheapest way to establish a known baseline.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, current mileage, and what was done at the last service if you know. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
