How you know it is this
- Oil running down the side or back of the block with the top of the engine dry
- Oil and coolant mixing where the housing also carries the oil cooler
- A leak that appears worse after a long run
Worth knowing before you buy
- A very common Mercedes oil leak, and cheap as a part. Most of the cost is access.
- Where the oil cooler sits under the housing, a failed seal lets oil into the coolant — which looks alarming and is not a head gasket.
- Do the cooler seals at the same time. The housing is off for both.
What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
