Brake-by-wire actuation unit

The unit that blends regenerative braking with the friction brakes, so the pedal feels the same however much of the braking the motor is doing.

Also called brake actuation unit, iBooster, electric brake booster.

How you know it is this

  • A hard or inconsistent brake pedal
  • A brake system warning
  • Braking that feels like it changes character between stops
  • Loss of regenerative braking with a firm pedal

Worth knowing before you buy

  • SAFETY-CRITICAL AND EXPENSIVE. It replaces the conventional servo and master cylinder, and it is not a part to fit casually.
  • The system falls back to direct hydraulic braking if it fails, so the car can still be stopped — but with much more pedal effort and no assistance. Treat that as drive-it-carefully-to-a-workshop, not carry-on.
  • Coded to the car, and bleeding requires a diagnostic tool to cycle the unit.
  • A change in pedal feel on an EV is worth investigating rather than getting used to.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number and the fault codes. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
