Yaw rate and steering angle sensors

The sensors that tell ESP which way the car is pointed and which way you have asked it to go. When they disagree, ESP intervenes.

Also called ESP sensor, steering angle sensor, yaw sensor.

How you know it is this

  • ESP light on permanently with no other fault
  • ESP cutting in on a straight, dry road
  • A fault appearing straight after a steering rack, airbag or alignment job

Worth knowing before you buy

  • The steering angle sensor needs calibrating after fitting, and after any alignment or steering work.
  • The yaw sensor is usually under the centre console and is orientation-critical — fitted the wrong way round it reads backwards.
  • A common false alarm after unrelated work, so worth checking calibration before buying anything.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
