Parking brake shoes

The small shoes that expand inside the rear disc's drum section to hold the car when parked.

Also called handbrake shoes.

How you know it is this

  • The car rolling on a slope with the parking brake applied
  • A scraping from the rear that is there whether or not you are braking
  • The parking brake needing far more travel than it used to

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Separate from the rear brake pads. A car can have perfect pads and worn parking brake shoes.
  • Supplied with springs and adjusters — reuse the old springs and one shoe will drag.
  • The rear disc has to come off to reach them, so do them with rear discs if both are due.

What we need to quote it. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
