Electric parking brake actuator

The small electric motor on the back of each rear caliper that applies the parking brake on cars with a switch instead of a lever.

Also called EPB motor, parking brake motor.

How you know it is this

  • A parking brake fault message on the dash
  • A whirring from one rear wheel with nothing happening
  • The parking brake applying but refusing to release

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Side-specific.
  • Far cheaper than the complete caliper it bolts to, and it is usually the motor that has failed rather than the caliper.
  • Has to be retracted with a diagnostic tool before the pads can be changed — and a seized motor is often discovered at exactly that moment.

What we need to quote it. Left or right. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
