Gasket maker, thread sealant or thread locker

Three different jobs that all arrive as a tube of paste. Using one for another is the usual cause of a comeback.

Thread locker is graded by strength. A high-strength grade on a bolt you will later need to remove is a bolt you will be drilling out.

Heat, oil and cure time

  • Check the temperature range against where the joint actually sits - an exhaust or a turbo housing is a different product from a gearbox cover.
  • Surfaces must be clean and dry. Oil left on a face is the most common reason a gasket maker fails.
  • Cure time is not handling time. A joint that can be handled in an hour may not be ready for pressure for a day.

Which maintenance chemical brands do you stock?

Permatex, Versachem and Molykote. Each row carries the manufacturer's own product name so it can be matched to a specification exactly.

What is the difference between a gasket maker and a thread sealant?

A gasket maker forms a gasket between two flat machined faces, such as a cover or a housing. A thread sealant seals a threaded joint - a pipe fitting carrying fluid or air. They are not interchangeable, and a gasket maker on a pressurised thread is a leak waiting to happen.

Do you deliver maintenance chemicals across the UAE?

Yes, to all seven emirates. Larger quantities for workshops and fleets are quoted on request.
