Timing covers and gaskets

The cover over the chain and sprockets at the front of the engine, and the gasket that seals it.

How you know it is this

  • An oil leak from the front of the engine
  • Oil on the belt or the underside of the car

Worth knowing before you buy

  • A front cover leak is often mistaken for the crankshaft seal. Both need the same access, so they are usually done together.
  • Many covers are sealed with a liquid gasket rather than a paper one, so the surface preparation matters more than the part.

What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
