Also called chain guides, tensioner rail.
How you know it is this
- Plastic fragments in the sump or caught in the oil strainer
- A rattle that no new tensioner cures
- A chain that has worn a groove right through a rail, found when the cover is off
Worth knowing before you buy
- The plastic goes brittle with heat and age, and it is usually the guide that fails rather than the chain.
- Broken pieces end up in the sump and can block the oil pick-up, which turns a timing job into an engine.
- Always with the chain and tensioner as a set.
What we need to quote it. The engine code. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
Rest of the timing
