How to choose
These go into the oil, not the fuel. That single distinction decides most of what belongs here. Engine or oil system flush — Run for a few minutes before draining, to carry sludge out with the old oil. Oil treatment / anti-wear — Left in with the fresh oil, for a high-mileage or hard-worked engine. Oil stop-leak — Swells hardened seals to slow a weep. A repair deferred, not a repair made.
Where it is the wrong choice
A flush is drained out and a treatment is left in. Leaving a flush in the sump, or draining a treatment straight back out, wastes both.
