How to choose
Coolant colour is a dye, not a specification — and the most common error here is dilution. Ready-mixed coolant — Pour straight in. Already blended with water at the right ratio. Concentrate — Must be mixed with water before use. Read the bottle — the two look the same on a shelf. Flush — Run through and drained before refilling, to clear scale and old inhibitor. Leak sealer and anti-rust — Added to a system that is losing coolant slowly or has corroded internally.
Where it is the wrong choice
Two red coolants can be entirely different chemistries. Top up with what is already in the system, or flush it and start again — do not match on colour.
