How you know it is this
- Smearing, streaking or chattering across the screen
- A rubber edge that is split, hardened or lifting
- Areas the blade no longer touches at all
- Squealing on a wet screen
Worth knowing before you buy
- THE GULF SUN IS WHAT KILLS THESE, not use. The rubber hardens and cracks sitting on a hot screen, so blades here need changing on time whether it has rained or not — often twice as often as the interval assumes.
- In pairs, and note that the two blades are usually DIFFERENT LENGTHS. Ordering two of the same is a common mistake.
- Mercedes uses several different arm fittings. A photograph of where the blade clips on settles it faster than anything.
- A blade dragged across a dusty dry screen is destroyed in one pass, and it scratches the glass. Wet the screen first.
- Chattering that a new blade does not fix is usually the arm's spring tension or a wax-contaminated screen.
What we need to quote it. The chassis number, and a photograph of the wiper arm fitting. The chassis number settles the generation, the body and usually the engine in seventeen characters — it is on your mulkiya. A photograph of the old part helps where there is more than one version.
Rest of the belts, wipers and fluids
- Accessory (serpentine) belt
- Belt tensioner and idlers
- Wiper blade — rear
- Screenwash and additives
- Engine oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid, coolant
- AdBlue
