Specification

Marine, film-faced or commercial?
Three different boards sold under one word, and the adhesive is what really separates them. MARINE — this page — is bonded with WBP phenolic right through and laid up without voids, for anything that gets wet or stays humid. FILM-FACED (shuttering) is a WBP-bonded board with a phenolic film on both faces, bought to strike concrete and be used again. COMMERCIAL is an MR-bonded interior board for carpentry and fit-out, and will delaminate if it gets wet. If the work is concrete, film-faced; if it gets wet, marine; if it is dry interior work, commercial.
What makes it marine
Two things together, and it needs both. A fully waterproof (WBP) phenolic adhesive in every glue line, and a core laid up from dense hardwood plies without gaps or voids. The adhesive is what survives the water; the void-free core is what stops the sheet delaminating from the inside once water finds a cut edge.
The standards buyers ask for
BS 1088 is the marine plywood specification, and EN 314-2 Class 3 is the bond class for exterior and wet service. If your specification calls for either, say so with the enquiry and we will confirm what the shipment actually carries before you commit.
Standard size
1220 × 2440 mm (4 × 8 ft) sheets · 2.98 m² each · 336 sheets to 1,000 m².
Thicknesses
4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 25 mm. 12 and 18 mm are the usual ones; 18 mm is the structural thickness.
Surface and finishing
Sanded raw hardwood veneer both faces, with no coating, so it takes paint, varnish, preservative or a bonded laminate directly. Seal the cut edges — that is where water gets into any plywood, marine included.
Where it is worth the money, and where it is not
Worth it for boat and dock work, wet-area joinery, and bathroom or kitchen carcasses near plumbing. Not worth it for dry interior framing, partitions or ceilings — that is what commercial plywood is for, at a fraction of the cost.
Telling it apart on site
A hardwood face with no knots showing, and an edge that reads as fine even plies with a continuous glue line and no voids. A commercial sheet cut alongside it shows a coarser core and visible gaps.

4 mm Marine Plywood — questions we get asked

Anything not covered here, ask on WhatsApp — you will get a person, not a form reply.

4 mm Marine Plywood is priced against your quantity and specification rather than carried at a list figure, because the rate moves with the volume and the delivery. Send the quantity and the emirate on WhatsApp or through the quotation form and you will have a written price, with VAT and delivery shown separately, the same working day.

1220 × 2440 mm sheet · 2.98 m² · 336 sheets per 1,000 m². WBP adhesive, gap-free core. Boat linings, curved work and wet-area backing. It is part of our Marine Plywood range under Plywood & Boards, stocked at our own warehouse.

Yes — to all 7 Emirates. Sharjah and the northern emirates are usually same day on stocked items, and the rest of the country is one to three working days. The delivery charge depends on the emirate, the load and the offloading, so it is quoted separately and shown on the written quotation rather than guessed at here.

Yes. Contractors, facilities companies, workshops and site suppliers are most of what we do, and volume pricing applies above trade quantities. Send the full list rather than one line and we will price the whole package. Standard terms are 50% advance and 50% on delivery, with credit terms available to verified repeat clients.

There are 6 lines in the Marine Plywood range, each with its own published price on this site. If the exact variant you need is not listed, ask — a good deal of our stock moves faster than the page does.
