One material, four duties.

Steel is chosen when the job is harder than composite will take, or when the contents rule composite out. What changes between these is the coating, the fittings and the certification — not the tank.

Diesel & fuel storage

Horizontal steel tanks for generators, fleet refuelling, factories and construction sites. Single wall where there is already a bund, double wall where there is not — the outer skin is the containment, so there is no concrete dike to build first.

Welded steel where the duty is harder than composite will take. Heavier and longer-lived than GRP or HDPE, and repairable by welding rather than replacement when it is knocked on a working site.

Fire reserve storage

Large-capacity steel tanks held for fire protection duty. A Civil Defence Certificate of Compliance is mandatory for fire and life safety products — tell us it is a fire reserve tank at enquiry stage and we will confirm what we can supply against your specification.

The same welded steel tanks, in a duty carbon steel is genuinely suited to. Workshops, manufacturing plants and maintenance facilities holding engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic fluid and lubricants.

Built to your drawing

Anything outside the four duties above is fabrication, not stock. Bring the drawing, the capacity and the material and lining your engineer has specified, and we quote against it. That is the honest home for a tank holding something carbon steel would not survive.

About custom fabrication
Straight answer

When steel is the wrong choice.

Steel is heavy, it needs an engineered base, and it rusts if the coating is breached and left. For a rooftop, a plant room or ordinary potable storage, composite is usually the better buy — and we sell that too.

GRP panel tanks are built in place from panels that fit through a door, and weigh a fraction of steel when empty.
